Exactly. Except, now you are a female platypus. There will be eggs.

How did mammals learn to lay eggs?

First there came the male platypus. Then there was the female platypus. Then the male platypus offered the female platypus a stinger and she said, "OK, but go easy on the creme' de menthe," and then there was another stinger and before you knew it these platypus eggs...

It's OK, the male did the right thing and the family now live in a suburb of Melbourne. He is assistant detail coordinator for the human resources department of a middling sized company printing HR brochures. She works part time as a substance abuse conselor and intends to go full time when the cghildren are whelped and swim off on their own.

Unfortunately, no. Like all monotremes their taste buds are extremely undeveloped, meaning they exclusively drink Fosters.

This concludes this test of a CosmoQuest master thread. If this had been an actual topic, Phil Plait himself would have moderated it.

It's entirely possible that at this point Phil Plait doesn't remember starting (the predecessor of) this forum.

Since platypus (platypi?) lay eggs and produce milk, they are the only animal that can make their own custard.

Isn't an echidnas a flour tortilla filled with some kind of meat and veggie mixture and covered with cheese?
