Pipe bombs are typically just that, sections of metal pipe (the better your shrapnel effects). Given that there was a video tape that was found with the charred remains, I think its safe to call this one as they have.

I know pipe bombs are traditionally made out pipes ( ), but I just figured in intent of bomb-making was slightly less stupid then flammable-exploding-lightsabre making. if that makes any sense. I'm just having a hard time believing that somebody could actually get that idea in their head and carry it through.

I remember doing that alot as a kid.

I found out that forks, spoons, and knives make great conductors. Also keys, screwdrivers, coat-hangers, well just about anything that would fit in those neat little slots. And I also had a fasination for empty Christmas tree bulb sockets. Always got a shock when I stuck my finger in there.

I think that was my road into the electronics world.

Don't get me started on explosive liquids. My brothers and I used to love having flaming snowball fights. Or flaming Tonka trucks. Or the Tonka truck with the lit matches rolled downhill into a gas soaked brick wall.

    Ah, the good ol' days.

Of course, my Brothers and I also had very red behinds after my Mom found out.

I have no trouble at all believing it. I was forced to watch "Jackass" at a party one night.

I have no trouble believing in the light saber story at all.

I'm surprised the article didn't have a mention of the inimitable Ian Carmichael, star of such films as Lucky Jim, and, as the unforgettable Stanley Windrush, Private's Progress and I'm All Right, Jack!

Haha. I should have thought of that movie. Now it makes so much more sense!

I have thought for a long time that the expression "No one could be that stupid" should be permanently removed from the English language. The evidence is overwhelmingly against it. :-?

By the way, welcome to the board, mwill.

There is a saying among firefighters/paramedics/EMTs:

    "Stupid people = job security."

I'm sure you have a couple of amusing stories.

Frogesque, I love that photo of the kid with the knife in the socket. All I remember us doing was holding thermometers over lightbulbs until they broke in order to play with the mercury and mixing ammonia with Comet in the tub.
