    Just read this again and I wondered...how much would sea level drop around the world in this scenario?

    Would sea level drop? All that subsiding land has to go somewhere, and if it's not occupying space above sea level it must be occupying space below sea-level.

    Would it really take centuries for the water to clear? I would think the particles would settle at a certain speed no matter how many there are.
