Endothermic and exothermic describe the energy balance of chemical reactions. A reaction that gives off more energy than it receives is exothermic. A reaction that requires more energy to be put into it to complete than it gives off is endothermic.

To put in simple words, endothermic are the process or reactions which absorption heat during their reaction, while exothermic release heat which any reaction.

Melting of ice is an endothermic process as it required heat to melt, while burning of coal is an exothermic as it releases heat.

    Hope it helps
