where he says how their foundation already has the expertise and resources to get started on vaccine work that will likely take governments longer to work through, so they are going forward with research on seven vaccines and at the same time building factories to produce them fully expecting to lose billions on at least five out of seven of the factories, for vaccines that don’t work out. The point being to be able to be ready to go into production immediately with ones that do well in testing to hopefully get us down to that year to year and a half timetable that’s been discussed for a vaccine.
This, of course, made me very happy to see - these are the sorts of things we will need to resolve the problem quickly and effectively. But then I looked at the responses. Oh, there were a couple of positive comments, but then there were the conspiracy theorists, loons and idiots, a request not to interview billionaires (never mind that this is how he can AFFORD TO PUT FORTH THIS EFFORT TO SAVE LIVES), and other ungrateful fools.
Basically, it came down to seeing something very positive and a bunch of people trying to tear it down.

I’d like to think those posting nasty comments are all just trolls, but then I see news reports of people attacking cellphone towers (5G causes viruses?) or attempting to drive a train into a hospital ship(conspiracy!) and get pretty disheartened.

I just heard from a cousin in Kansas. One of my other cousins has pneumonia and is on a ventilator. She's younger than me. Test results aren't back but probably Covid-19.
This is a state which has delayed its response for purely political reasons. Yeah, I know the forum rules. It doesn't seem important right now.

Bad Post-Doc
We got the call yesterday. Our governor has ordered all schools closed for the remainder of the school year. This is sad enough to begin with, but it was going to be our last year in our previous school district, much less at Simon's current school. Class picture day was scheduled for the Thursday after the schools closed, so he won't even have that. He'll have a school picture for the year, but his school did two a year, and the class picture was with the spring picture day.
