I wish someone would post in Moon Mappers. There's been a thread title on display there for months now: "Is it aliive?" And every time I see it, the double "i" makes me here Brian Blessed saying "Gordon's ali-ive?"

Hey, is there any discussion of where to look for Planet 9?

Since we have been able to access YouTube via our TV, about 18 months ago, we have been catching up on old TV Shows. One of these has been the Mary Tyler Moore Show. In that time three of the original cast members have died - Cloris Leachman, Gavin Macleod and 'today' Ed Asner. I am beginning to feel like there is a correlation between my viewing patterns and their deaths. Hopefully Betty White, who joined the show in Season 4, will make her 100th birthday.

We have been working our way through the various Bob Newhart shows so he is obviously also in danger. And to make matters worse we have also been catching up with Dame Judy Dench via "A Fine Romance" which she did in the early 1980's with her late husband. I don't want to be the cause of the demise of one of the Grande Dames of the English Stage.

Of all these actors, Dame Judi is the youngest at a mere 86 so perhaps it is not just me that is causing their demise.

    Is this the right thread?

Anyway, the Hollywood Reporter had a very recent interview and he was tweeting just two days ago. He seemed completely alert with excellent memory in the interview, which makes me happy - I get the impression this was fairly sudden and that he was doing well for his age.

I wasn't sure where to post so I tossed a coin. I read that interview the day before he died and also thought that he sounded extremely 'with it and mentally fine and not at all bad in a physical sense. I was surprised when I read of his death but of course he was 91. In the comments section of the New York Times obituary one of the posters said that he had booked to see him act in a 'play' this week - "Ironically, Mr. Asner was set to perform in a play with Jamie Farr at the Flat Rock Playhouse, in North Carolina this coming Thursday and I intended on going to see it." I had a look and he was due to appear there. They have posted condolences and a short notice that - "The Labor Day weekend performance of "Two Jews, Talking" has been canceled". So he was working to the end which is a good way to go at his age.

Put down the remote. Step away from the TV.

If you want to see something really funny, actually related to science, John Oliver's visit to CERN is hilarious.

OK, but his jabs on the U.S. are really his funniest. I think this is his best one: The Decline of the American Empire.

I did a search for the JWST launch date. Google gave me a scrolling list of dates. I've made it to Saturday, 17 August 4301. Still scrolling...
