270 degrees? She meant 180, and I wondered about where she got 270 from until I saw a compass from one of my kid's math sets.

0 on the right, 90 at the top (north), 180 on the left, and 270 on the bottom (south). Poor Nancy.

Sounds like someone was looking at the XY coordinate system instead of the geographical coordinate system when they whomped that compass up...

Degrees like that are used to mark relative bearing from the observer's point of view. 90 would be directly to the right, 270 behind, 300 to the left ahead...

Is she plotting something using one point as a stable reference?
