The usual estimate for costs seems to be £500 million which, as always, is a remarkably round figure. I'm curious what the final balance sheet will be since most of the venues were sold out for all events

Everything would be 500 million of some unit, so maybe instead of specify quantities by stating the number of a fixed unit, we could have a fixed quantity of a stated unit size.
If your budget is £500 million and the Games cost £518 million are you underbudget? Would your answer be different if at the last minute the budget was increased to £550 million? Would your answer be different is this was space exploration?
